Frequently Asked Questions:

Choose by era and character. The Ford Mustang covers seven generations, from the 1965–1973 classics to today’s S650, with the GT, Mach 1 and Boss versions and Eleanor recreations. The Ford GT page covers the 1964–1969 GT40 and the 2005–2006 and 2017–2022 Ford GT. The Ford Galaxie is the full-size car of 1959–1974, and the Ford T-Bucket is the classic Model T-based hot rod.

Shelby versions of the Mustang have their own page, Shelby GT350 and GT500.

It depends on the model and the character you want. In classic Mustangs and Galaxies, a 289 or 302 small-block gives a balanced, lighter-feeling car, while big-block engines such as the 390, 427 and 428 deliver more torque. Rare high-performance engines include the K-code 289 Hi-Po, the Boss 302 and Boss 429 and the 428 Cobra Jet. The modern Ford GT uses a supercharged 5.4 V8 in the 2005–2006 car and a twin-turbo 3.5 V6 in the 2017–2022 car, and T-Buckets usually carry a V8 chosen by their builder.

Start with identity, because K-code, Boss, Cobra Jet, XL and 7 Litre claims are often recreated, and GT40s have many replicas. On classic Fords, the fifth digit of the VIN gives the original engine code, and the door data plate records the body, colour, trim, build date, transmission and axle. Eleanor recreations and T-Buckets should be judged as individual builds. Then check classic cars for rust and previous repairs, and modern cars for service and recall history.

On restomod and pro-touring cars, judge the quality of the components and workmanship. PTTM can share the information available on a car and discuss any further inspection.

Model, engine and history set the starting point. A period GT40, a 2005–2006 Ford GT Heritage edition, a Boss 429, a K-code Mustang or a 427 Galaxie sits in a very different market from a six-cylinder coupé or an unfinished hot rod. For builds such as Eleanor recreations and T-Buckets, the builder, components and documentation matter most. Within any car, value reflects originality, documentation, condition, factory options, colour and mileage.

Unrestored survivors, restored cars and professionally built pro-touring cars and restomods are each valued on different terms. Compare the whole car and its records alongside the price, and PTTM can help you define a realistic search.

Registration or title documents with a VIN matching the car are the foundation. The door data plate records the factory specification, and for 1967 and later Fords a Marti Report based on Ford’s production records can confirm a car’s original equipment. Original paperwork such as a window sticker adds weight, and builds such as Eleanor recreations and T-Buckets should come with the builder’s records. Imported cars should carry their import papers, and PTTM’s Registration Service can guide European registration.

Yes, PTTM can assess your current car and discuss a trade-in towards a Ford purchase. Send us its make, model, year, mileage, photographs and available history, along with details of the car you are interested in. Trade-ins are not automatic: each proposal is considered individually, based on condition, documentation and market demand.

Possible structures include equal-value exchanges and trades with a cash adjustment on either side, agreed transparently in advance.

Ford combines production history with racing success. The original Mustang set a twelve-month sales record of 418,812, and the Highland Green 1968 Mustang GT from Bullitt and the Eleanor car from Gone in 60 Seconds gave it a lasting screen history. The GT40 ended Ferrari’s run at Le Mans in 1966 with a one-two-three finish, and the Galaxie won the 1963 British Saloon Car Championship with Jack Sears. Individual cars stand out through originality, documentation, rare options and condition, and a well-sorted driver can be as rewarding as a concours restoration.

It depends on how you plan to use the car. A classic Mustang convertible or Galaxie suits relaxed cruising, while a fastback Mustang or a pro-touring build suits a more sporting drive. A T-Bucket is an open two-seater for short runs and shows, and a GT40 suits historic events and track days. The modern Ford GT and later Mustangs combine high performance with everyday usability. PTTM offers both, from factory-correct restorations to custom restomod and pro-touring builds. Tell your sales advisor how you plan to drive.

Yes. Our Personalized Car Search service can look beyond our current inventory. Tell us your preferred model and year, body style, engine and transmission, whether original or modified, and colour, condition and budget.

We identify suitable cars and help assess their condition, history and authenticity. K-code and Boss Mustangs, 427 Galaxies, period GT40s, Ford GT Heritage editions and well-documented T-Buckets can take longer to find, and we will give you an honest expectation of timing. Search terms are agreed before we begin, and you are never obliged to proceed with a car we present.

Yes. PTTM works with buyers across Europe and overseas and can coordinate transport to your country. Within Europe, cars travel by road with our own trailers or trusted partners. Intercontinental deliveries normally go by sea freight, and air freight is available on request. We confirm the transport method, insurance, costs and estimated timing for your destination before you commit. Import requirements vary by country, so share your destination when enquiring and we can explain the options.
