Find your next Pontiac for sale at Pedal to the Metal. General Motors introduced Pontiac in 1926, named after the Odawa chief, and under Semon “Bunkie” Knudsen from 1956 the brand built a performance image with powerful V8s. The 1964 GTO, an option on the Tempest LeMans with the 389 V8, is widely seen as the car that started the muscle-car trend, and the Firebird followed for 1967, with the Trans Am arriving for 1969. Pontiac built its own V8 engines into the 1970s, and the brand ended in 2010.
