Frequently Asked Questions:

Choose by era, layout and use. The Testarossa, with its mid-mounted flat-12 and side strakes, defines the 1980s, followed by the 512 TR and F512 M. The F355 is a mid-engined V8 offered as a Berlinetta, a targa-topped GTS and a Spider. The 550 Maranello returned Ferrari’s V12 flagship to the front of the car, with the 550 Barchetta as a limited roadster and the 575M as its successor.

The Roma, introduced in 2019, is a modern 2+2 grand tourer, with the Roma Spider following in 2023.

It depends on the character you want. The Testarossa’s 4.9 flat-12 delivers smooth, long-legged performance with a five-speed manual. The F355’s 3.5 V8, with five valves per cylinder and 380 PS at 8,250 rpm, is a high-revving engine, and from 1997 it was offered with the paddle-shift F1 gearbox, the first on a road car. The 550 Maranello combines a 485 PS V12 with a six-speed manual, and the Roma uses a 620 PS twin-turbo V8 with an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

Start with identity and service history. Check that the chassis number, engine number and specification match the documentation, and that the service records are complete and consistent with the mileage. On models such as the Testarossa and F355, major belt services involve significant work, so confirm when the last one was done and by whom. Check for accident repair, paint depth and panel gaps, and on F1-gearbox cars the condition of the clutch and hydraulics.

On restomod and pro-touring cars, judge the quality of the components and workmanship. PTTM can share the information available on a car and discuss any further inspection.

Model, specification and history set the starting point. An early single-mirror Testarossa, a manual F355, a 550 Barchetta or a low-mileage car with Ferrari Classiche certification sits in a different market from a higher-mileage car with gaps in its history. Manual gearboxes, desirable colours and original options add interest. Within any model, value reflects documented service history, originality, mileage, condition and ownership history.

Unrestored survivors, restored cars and professionally built restomods are each valued on different terms. Compare the whole car and its records alongside the price, and PTTM can help you define a realistic search.

Registration documents with a chassis number matching the car are the foundation. The original books, service history and invoices show how the car has been maintained, and a Ferrari Classiche Certificate of Authenticity, known as the Red Book, confirms that a car at least 20 years old matches its original factory specification. Ownership history adds weight. Imported cars should carry their import papers, and PTTM’s Registration Service can guide European registration.

Yes, PTTM can assess your current car and discuss a trade-in towards a Ferrari purchase. Send us its make, model, year, mileage, photographs and available history, along with details of the car you are interested in. Trade-ins are not automatic: each proposal is considered individually, based on condition, documentation and market demand.

Possible structures include equal-value exchanges and trades with a cash adjustment on either side, agreed transparently in advance.

Ferrari’s road cars are backed by a long racing record. It won Le Mans in 1949, took six consecutive wins in the early 1960s and won again in 2023 and 2024, and Scuderia Ferrari has won sixteen Formula One Constructors’ Championships. Its road cars carry that heritage, from the Testarossa, of which almost 10,000 were built including its successors, to the 550 Barchetta, built in only 448 examples. Individual cars stand out through history, originality, documentation and condition, and a well-sorted driver can be as rewarding as a concours car.

It depends on how you plan to use the car. The Testarossa and 550 Maranello suit fast, long-distance touring, while the F355 is the more agile choice for winding roads, with the GTS and Spider adding open-air driving. The Roma combines grand touring comfort with modern technology for regular use. An original, correctly maintained Ferrari suits buyers who value authenticity, and PTTM can discuss restorations and custom builds where they suit a car. Tell your sales advisor how and how often you plan to drive.

Yes. Our Personalized Car Search service can look beyond our current inventory. Tell us your preferred model and year, body style and transmission, colour, mileage, condition and budget.

We identify suitable cars and help assess their condition, history and authenticity. Early Testarossas, manual F355s, 550 Barchettas, low-mileage cars with full histories and Classiche-certified cars can take longer to find, and we will give you an honest expectation of timing. Search terms are agreed before we begin, and you are never obliged to proceed with a car we present.

Yes. PTTM works with buyers across Europe and overseas and can coordinate transport to your country. Within Europe, cars travel by road with our own trailers or trusted partners. Intercontinental deliveries normally go by sea freight, and air freight is available on request. We confirm the transport method, insurance, costs and estimated timing for your destination before you commit. Import requirements vary by country, so share your destination when enquiring and we can explain the options.
