Explore Cadillac DeVilles for sale at Pedal to the Metal. The name began in 1949 on the Series 62 Coupe de Ville, one of the first pillarless hardtop coupés, and the four-door Sedan de Ville followed in 1956. For 1959, the DeVille became a series of its own. Our focus is the 1959–1976 model years. The two-door Coupe DeVille, the four-door Sedan DeVille in hardtop form and from 1965 to 1970 also as a pillared sedan and the DeVille Convertible, offered from 1964 to 1970. The V8 grew from the 390 through the 429 and 472 to the 500 cui, and the Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission arrived for 1964.
If your ideal Cadillac isn’t in our current inventory, we can help you find it. PTTM sources high-quality classic and collector cars, with worldwide delivery available.
Choose by how you want to use and enjoy the car. The Coupe DeVille (often written Coupe de Ville) is the two-door. A pillarless hardtop through 1973 and from 1974 it kept frameless door glass but gained wide coach windows. The four-door is Sedan DeVille, with the most space for passengers. It was a hardtop throughout these years, with a pillared version also offered from 1965 to 1970. The choice for open-air touring is ofcourse the DeVille Convertible, built only from 1964 to 1970.
Each generation has a distinct character. 1959–60: the dramatic finned cars, powered by the 390 V8. 1961–64: crisper styling. The 1964 cars, the last of Cadillac’s traditional tailfin run, gained the 429 V8 and the three-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic. 1965–70: a new perimeter frame and cleaner lines. The 429 gave way to the 472 for 1968, and front disc brakes became available. 1971–76: the largest DeVilles. They used the 472, then the 500 from 1975, with electronic fuel injection optional from March 1975.
First confirm the car’s original body style and specification. On many years, the VIN contains a body-style code. Then assess the structure, rust repairs, panel fit and the condition of the chrome and stainless trim, which can be costly to restore on a car this size. Test the power equipment, the climate system and, on convertibles, the power top. Review the drivetrain’s maintenance history.
PTTM can share the information available on a car and discuss any further inspection before you decide.
Body style and year set the starting point. Convertibles and 1959 models usually attract the strongest interest, while Coupe and Sedan DeVilles from other years are often more accessible. Within any year, value reflects condition and restoration quality, originality and factory options, colour combination and documented history.
A well-kept car with its original equipment working can be worth more than a shiny one with unresolved issues. Compare the whole car and its records alongside the price. PTTM can help you define a realistic search around your budget.
Registration or title documents with a matching VIN are the foundation. Original sales paperwork, the owner’s manual, service records, restoration invoices and photographs all help establish the car’s history. Some cars come with a letter from Cadillac’s historical services department, quoting the car’s factory records. Imported cars should carry their import papers, and PTTM’s Registration Service can guide European registration. Records vary between cars, so we explain exactly what accompanies the DeVille you are considering.
Yes, PTTM can assess your current car and discuss a trade-in towards a Cadillac purchase. Send us its make, model, year, mileage, photographs and available history, along with details of the car you are interested in. Trade-ins are not automatic: each proposal is considered individually, based on condition, documentation and market demand.
Possible structures include equal-value exchanges and trades with a cash adjustment on either side, agreed transparently in advance.
The DeVille was the heart of Cadillac’s range. By 1970 it accounted for around three-quarters of all Cadillacs sold. Between 1959 and 1976 it moved from the finned 1959 cars to the last DeVille Convertible in 1970 and the last pillarless Coupe DeVille in 1973. That gives collectors distinct body styles and generations to choose between. Individual examples stand out through originality, condition, period options, colour and documented history. An honest, well-maintained driver can be as rewarding to own as a fully restored show car.
Yes, for relaxed touring rather than tight city streets. These are big cars and the 1974–1976 models are about 5.9 metres long, so check your garage and local parking first. Big-block V8s also use plenty of fuel. Before regular use, assess the cooling system, brakes, suspension, tyres and, where fitted, the air conditioning. Tell your PTTM sales advisor how you plan to drive and we can focus on suitably prepared cars.
Yes. Our Personalized Car Search service can look beyond our current inventory. Tell us the body style and preferred years you want, colour combination and options, the level of condition and originality you expect and your budget.
We identify suitable cars and help assess their condition and history. Convertibles and specific early years can take longer to find than later coupés and sedans, and we will give you an honest expectation of timing. Search terms are agreed before we begin, and you are never obliged to proceed with a car we present.
Yes. PTTM works with international buyers and can coordinate transport within Europe and overseas. Before proceeding, we can discuss the vehicle information and documentation you need, together with any inspection arrangements. Delivery is planned around the car and destination, with the transport method, insurance arrangements, costs and estimated timing confirmed as part of the process. Import requirements vary by country, so share your destination when enquiring and we can explain the options.
We’re happy to discuss your plans and advise on the right next steps. Whether you’re considering a purchase, planning a restoration or build, or exploring options for selling or registration.
