Finished in the iconic Hertz livery: Shadow Black over Ebony leather with the traditional gold Le Mans dual racing stripes and matching rocker stripes, this is CSM #22DH0004, one of only five examples from the Hertz Shelby executive purchase program that went to private owners rather than joining the rental fleet. Where the other twenty cars in this special run spent their lives as part of Hertz's three year partnership with Shelby, this one and four siblings were set aside and sold directly, making it a genuinely rare piece within an already limited production of twenty five.
The car began life as a factory special order Ford Shelby GT500 (VIN 1FA6P8SJ9N5501642), built at the Flat Rock assembly plant and specified in Shadow Black with Ebony leather Recaro interior, before being routed through Gaudin Ford in Las Vegas for its Shelby executive purchase program conversion. The original window sticker survives with the car, confirming both its factory specification and its documented path into the Hertz Shelby program.
Under the carbon fiber hood sits the 5.2 liter supercharged Predator V8, fitted with a gold Whipple 3.8 liter supercharger and producing over 900 horsepower, sent through a Tremec seven speed dual clutch transmission. The specification reads like a wish list for anyone serious about modern muscle: a high volume supercharger intercooler and heat exchanger, an open cold air intake system, performance half shafts, Shelby's prepreg dry carbon fiber hood with functional evacuation vents and water management trays, one piece forged monoblock wheels, and a Borla cat back exhaust.
