“Eleanor” Builds

What Is an “Eleanor”?
At Pedal To The Metal, “Eleanor”-inspired builds are one of our most distinctive in-house specialties.
Inspired by the legendary car from Gone in 60 Seconds, the “Eleanor” has become one of the most recognizable and influential American muscle cars ever created. For many enthusiasts, it was the car that sparked a lifelong passion. Decades later, its appeal hasn’t faded. And for good reason.
We don’t treat these builds as replicas or cosmetic conversions. Every “Eleanor” we build is a ground-up custom project, executed with the same seriousness, engineering discipline, and craftsmanship as our highest-end Restomod and Pro Touring builds.
A True Custom Build
Every “Eleanor”-inspired project is fully built from the ground up. The donor car (1967 or 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback) is stripped, evaluated, and—when specified—acid-dipped to remove all rust, old coatings, and filler, ensuring the cleanest possible foundation before any fabrication begins.
Fitting the “Eleanor” body components requires extensive custom work, adjustment, and refinement. From there, every system in the car is rebuilt or replaced to match your vision.
Because Mustangs are unibody cars, the entire vehicle receives the same level of attention – this is a complete transformation.

Timeline & Client Involvement
A typical “Eleanor”-inspired build takes approximately two years, depending on specification and options.
This is not a production-line project. You are closely involved throughout the process, receiving regular updates, detailed progress reports, and the opportunity to visit our facility and see your car take shape in person.
Many clients describe the experience as being the project manager of their own dream car, with our team executing every detail.
Production Capacity & Availability
Our “Eleanor” production capacity is very limited. We typically have a maximum of two projects running at any given time, which means build slots are rare and often subject to a waiting list.
To secure a slot, a €25,000 deposit is required. This confirms your build position and comes with a formal contract. From there, we plan the project in detail and establish a flexible payment structure aligned with the build timeline.
Base Project & Investment
The base project starts from €350,000, which includes:
Fully restored 1967/68 Ford Mustang V8 Fastback
“Eleanor”-inspired exterior and interior
High-quality finish and cohesive driving experience
A faithful movie-style interpretation
Optional upgrades allow you to take the build further, from subtle enhancements to full Extreme Series specifications. All upgrades are optional and discussed transparently.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):
Some buyers want a car that already exists. Others want the car exactly as they have imagined it – a specific color, a specific powertrain, a specific level of performance, built the way they want it from the ground up. At Pedal to the Metal, we build custom classic muscle cars and Eleanor-style Mustang projects at our facility in Sneek, Netherlands. This guide covers what the custom build process looks like and, in particular, how our Eleanor build program works.
The iconic silver Fastback from the film Gone in 60 Seconds is one of the most recognizable movie cars ever put on screen. A heavily modified 1967 Shelby GT500-style Mustang fastback in silver with black racing stripes, wide-body bodywork, and a high-output V8, it captured the imagination of an entire generation of muscle car enthusiasts. At Pedal to the Metal, we build tribute cars to this icon in our facility, and they represent some of the most spectacular and sought-after builds we produce. Each one is a unique, handbuilt machine.
We offer two distinct paths.
The Precision Series is a faithful tribute to the movie car’s appearance. It is a high-end build that preserves the visual authenticity of the original silver Fastback with limited but carefully considered upgrades to improve reliability and drivability. If you want something that looks exactly right and drives beautifully without going all-out on power and track capability, this is the series for you.
The Extreme Series is an all-out pro-touring monster built on the same iconic body. Ultra-wide bodywork, powertrains reaching up to 1,500 horsepower, and engineering designed for track-level performance as well as road use. This is for the buyer who wants the visual drama of the movie car combined with supercar-level mechanical ambition.
The process runs in eight stages.
It begins with you deciding you want an Eleanor built by us and reaching out to start the conversation. We then arrange an appointment with our restoration manager, sales team, and CEO to discuss every detail of your build – body specification, chassis setup, drivetrain, interior, and technology. This is where your vision takes shape in concrete terms. Once the plan is agreed, we sign the contract and begin the build. Projects are billed monthly with full transparency. Because of the complexity of these builds, budgets are presented as honest estimates rather than fixed promises, and we will never proceed with additional work without discussing it with you first. Throughout the build you receive consistent updates including photos, videos, and scheduled meetings either in person or online, so you are connected to the project at every stage. As the build nears completion, our team performs meticulous assembly and extensive testing covering engine performance, handling, fit, and finish. Every Eleanor must pass our strictest quality standards before delivery. The finished car is then revealed at our facility – often with a celebratory handover – or delivered directly to you anywhere in the world.
Yes. The Eleanor program is our most celebrated build series, but we build custom and pro-touring versions of any classic American muscle car platform, including Camaros, Chevelles, Trans Ams, Chargers, and Cudas. If you have a specific car in mind – a particular year, body style, powertrain, and specification – contact us and we will discuss whether and how we can build it. We can source the right base car, plan the build, and deliver a finished vehicle to your specification.
Build times vary significantly depending on the complexity of the project. A focused pro-touring build on a prepared base car might take six to twelve months. A full Eleanor build with extensive bodywork, custom paint, and high-output drivetrain work typically takes longer. We will give you a realistic timeline estimate after the initial consultation, and we will always be transparent if that timeline needs to change during the project.
Custom build costs depend entirely on the specification. A pro-touring build starts from €200,000 ($220,000). A full Eleanor Precision Series build starts from €350,000 ($385,000). The Eleanor Extreme Series, with high-output powertrain reaching up to 1,500 horsepower and full track-spec mechanical work, starts from €500,000 ($550,000). All budgets are estimates presented honestly, and projects are billed monthly. Contact us at [email protected] for a conversation specific to your project.
Both options are available. If you already own a car you want us to build on, we can work with your base car. If you need us to source one, we have extensive experience finding the right base vehicle for any project, whether that is a solid first-generation Mustang fastback for an Eleanor build or a clean second-generation Camaro for a pro-touring project. Sourcing the right base car is the most important single decision in any custom build, and we take it seriously.
Yes. We ship finished builds to clients in the United States, the Middle East, and across Europe. We handle all export documentation and logistics. Cars over 25 years old are exempt from US federal safety and emissions regulations, which makes import to the US straightforward. Contact us to discuss delivery arrangements as part of the initial build conversation.

Tell us what you have in mind – whether that is a specific Eleanor series, a pro-touring build on a particular platform, or something else entirely – and we will arrange a consultation with our restoration manager, sales team, and CEO to start turning your vision into a plan.
